Our daughter is a little, hmmm, competitive. We have been working on this with her in regards to card and board games. She struggles when others win, sometimes with tears. Today as we prepared for Go Fish, she rehearsed possible outcomes to help her deal with the advent of losing. She said to her brother, "Ashton if you win I will tell you good job." She said to me "Mommy if you win I will forgive you." I had a difficult time concealing my laughter.
On Sunday we made chocolate chip cookies. Jojo thought it would be fun to make large ones, measuring 5 inches across. After lunch they got their cookies and began chomping. I warned that maybe they shouldn't eat the whole thing as it could upset their bellies or make them sick. Jojo, always the good listener, stopped at half a cookie. Ash had a look in his eye. It is the same look he has when he tries to figure out how something works. It is laced with curiosity and a hint of "I'm not sure I believe you." Well, he finished his whole cookie with a grin of course. Later that afternoon as Jojo and I were out and abour I received a text from Mark reporting "Ash not feeling too good. He said it was from eating too much dinner last night." Hmmmm, I'm not sure I believe him.
